Oh the things that happen...
Funny story. Yep, that's right, I got a story for you.
So last Sunday, I was standing with Luke and Evan in the hall, chatting as is the protocall for Sunday morning "fellowship" after the service when this older Asian man walks up and is talking to Evan. Luke is introduced. Luke and the Asian dude realized that they know each other through the credit union Luke works at. Then the Asian dude then says something about "oh your girl friend, you talked about your girl friend" and points in my direction. I point to the otherside of Luke because at that moment Priscilla is walking by. Luke smoothy pulls her to his side and says "this is my girl friend, Priscilla. She goes to Cedarville..."
This is not a very unusual situation. I can live with it. It's life. I used to hate those kinds of situations but now it's not very awkward. But as to my next story...
Last Tuesday, my dad and I went to weigh in at Weight Watchers. Normal happenings. Nothing unusal about that. Well actually I ran into my old preschool teacher... go figure. Who told me that I was one of the cutest little girls ever! But that is not the point. After weighing in one of the people who works there, Betsy, was talking to us. She was saying how neat it is the me and my dad are doing the program together... etc. And then she asks, "so Alie how often do people thing your dad is your boyfriend?" !!!!!! Ahhh. No way. I have always feared that. Everytime my dad and I go out I make an extended effort to call him Dad but never has it been asked to my face. Besty told me and my dad that when we first started coming she and Harry (guy-in-charge) we talking about us. She had said something about "that girl Alie and her boyfriend" and Harry said, "that's not her boyfriend, that's her dad." Oh my word. Hello. It's one thing for Luke or another guy friend to be mistaken as my boyfriend but for my DAD being mistaken for my boyfriend! Awkward. Now it's time to do the Pat dance. Hands in the pockets, go up on your toes and sigh, awkward.
