I just want to hear a little Rod Stewart

Wow.

That's the best way to describe Jam Camp. However, a different and entirely more descriptive way to describe it would be to say that it was full of hilarity, fun, growth and annoying Joy.

I got two stories for you right now. The first will be described in it's entirety.

The Prank

The eigth grade guys had to sleep in tents. That was an experience. The bathrooms we had to use were glorified outhouses which basically means bigger with less ventilation and were the rankest smelling bathrooms in the world. We were five minutes away from the rest of the cabins and people indwelling them and so had to get driven by Tim in order to get to breakfast, lunch, dinner, chapel and all other activities 5 minutes late. There was no "on time" for us. The eigth grade guys were also split up into three camp sites all right on a road and cut out of the forest that surrounded the road. These sites were spaced about 25 feet from each other and had enough room for a fire pit, a large tent and a picnic table. The first day one of the groups slacked off and didn't get their tent put up so they got to sleep in our main meeting room.

So Saturday night we walked back and returned to our cabins very tired after playing a night game of Ultimate frisbee. As it turns out, Mark's bag was wet, as well as everything in his bag, as well has the top of his suitcase, as well as inside his suitcase, as well as his pillow. Nathan found a water baloon under his sleeping bag, and so did I. In fact I found three. After searching our tent for more water explosives we thought the other tent of guys pranked us. However we found out that their tent had been pranked as well and that the culprits were the eigth grade girls.

My cabin was Mark, Kuch, Nathan, Mac and Pat. James was in our tent as well and we were all trying to think of how to get the girls back. After many minutes of discussing water baloons and shaving cream Nathan speaks up and says, "Didn't our lesson say that we shouldn't take revenge and forgive?" He was right and I agreed and said that we should do nothing and forgive the girls and that would be worse off for them because we weren't affected by their pranks. So we agreed and James went off to tell his tent the plan.

James: Ok guys, here is how we will prank the girls. We will do nothing and forgive them and then they will feel guilty and we win.
TJ: What?!
James: We forgive them and then they feel bad because we were the more mature ones.
TJ: Explain this to me again?
James: We don't prank them, and that's the prank because we took the high road.

-Silence-

TJ: Run that by me one more time?
James: We don't prank them. Forgive them and then make them feel guilty about pranking us in the first place because we were the more mature ones and we took the high road and we win...

...

And THEN we prank them and we win twice!

So it was settled then, we would do nothing to them. So the next morning we get to talking about this with Tim. We finally hit upon the idea that doing nothing is exactly the funniest thing that could happen to the girls as we decide to serve them breakfast. Which the 8th grade guys do. They took the orders, brought the girls exactly what they wanted and did nothing to the food. When the girls asked what they did to the food then we said, "Nothing," with appropriate smirks on our faces. Girls ordered water or just plain said that they weren't hungry. Ha.

So after about 5 minutes after the girls had all been served Jpy decides to tell them what was really going on and that the prank was that we did nothing. Knowing that Joy could not have figured this out by herself I went up to her.

Me: Joy, how did you know what we put in their food?
Joy: Tim told me that you did nothing to it.
Me: Ha, that's funny, you put the girls at ease but we didn't tell time what we actually did to their food. You didn't eat anything right?
Joy: Yes I did, and you didn't really do anything to it.
Me: What! I told them not to serve you or any of the 8th grade girl leaders!

- at this point James walks up -

James: Why did you tell the girls that we didn't do anything to their food?

(side note: James had no idea what i had just said to Joy)

Me: James, why did you serve Joy? I told you not to serve the leaders the food! She didn't know that we didn't tell Tim what we put in their food.
James: Hey you tell us to serve our leaders, she asked and we just gave her the food!
Joy with a worried look on her face: Luke, what did you put in the food?
Me: I'm sorry Joy, I can't tell you.
Joy: I have a right to know!
Me (I start walking away): Joy, um, we uh didn't do anything to the food, just forget about it.
Joy: No, Luke, seriously what did you do (she starts chasing me around the room)?
Me: Joy leave me alone!
Joy: No not until you tell me what you did!
Me: I tell you when your older!

- This continues for a good two minutes more before I tell Joy that we really, honestly didn't do anything to the food. -

Joy: I knew it!

Yeah right.

-----------------------------

Unforgivable!

So Joy decided to take a nap. Bad idea.

Candace and Allison went to wake up Joy from her nap. It was just an unfortunate coincidence that they both had cameras. Candace starts hitting joy with a pink bouncy ball thing and Joy turns around bathed in a fraction of the light that movie stars feel on the red carpet.

Joy: UNFORGIVABLE!!!

Jam camp was a blast and I am so proud of my guys. They are maturing into men of God and God has blessed me so much to be with them for two years.

The Essence of Joy!
