Ok so I actually have something to type today. It all started a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, or in my basement yesterday, which ever one fits. So I was talking to, lets say, Bob. (the names have been changed to protect the innocent). So Bob and I were talking and it was getting late. Bob IM'd me and the following discussion ensued:

Bob: well i'm gonna get going, it's getting late
Me: alrght, g'night
Bob: it was nice talking to you again
( I close the screen thinking the conversation is over)
B: goodnight
M: later
B: God bless
M: ditto
(Close screen)
B: Thanks
M: No prob
B: Bye
(At this point I decided that the conversation was over and for about 3 minutes I went about my business thinking that she, Bob, would be going to bed seeing as she said she was tired, but no, the conversation continued.)
B: I'll talk to you on thursday
M: ok
B: have a good day tomorrow
M: are you actually tired?
B: yeah, why?
M: No reason
B: ok bye

At this point I was flabbergasted, that's right flabbergasted at the fact that this "goodbye" took more than six exchanges to get done with. Now I come to the point of my post. We need to make a rule of how many exchanges we should have at the end of a conversation on instant messeger. I mean, it's just unnatural to say good bye over and over again. I got the point the first time. I'm not upset at Bob, on no, she is just a victim of ignorance of how to say goodbye online. But now the answer to our problems is here. I will explain. We must limit our goodbyes to three each. Then we'll all know when the conversation is ended. Here is an example of the "Luke Method" as it shall now be known.

B: Well, it's getting late, I should be going
M: okay you have a good night
B: Alright I'll talk to you tomorrow
M: okay
B: goodnite
M: night

The end. You see the Luke Method is an obvious improvement to the confusion and embarrasment of not knowing when or how it was ok to stop talking. Ah, you see this is how the mind of a genius works. Oh wait, no it's not. But it resembles a genius mind seeing as this is a genius method.

Next on the list is guest o' the month. I have made an executive decision seeing as I am the administrator of this site. Each month we will give the opporitunity for a guest to come on the site and post what he/she would like to post. We will also be adding comments shortly as soon as I can figure out how to do it. So in a couple of years we should be ok. Well, the blogging revolution is upon us. Dan now has a blog that I will now shamelessly promote. Go there. If I knew what it was then I'd promote the actual blog site but alas, I do not. Kudos to Alie for reminding us what the true meaning of Christmas actually is. I hope I see a bunch of you tonight. Later!
